Hey there! Today is National Coming Out Day and I wanted to write a little bit about it even though it's almost over in the states. You will probably see more LGBTQ+ related posts in the future but this is just a quick blog.

I'm Grace, one of the members of ToitsmoRT. My sexuality is straight but I support LGBTQ+. Growing up, I never really knew what LGBTQ+ was even though I was surrounded by it my whole life. My aunt and my some of my friends are a part of the community and I appreciate how much they've all taught and corrected me.

I know that coming out can be hard sometimes because you're scared of what others may think. I certainly know that some of my family members didn't want me to know yet because I didn't fully understand the concept, and they thought that I might "hate" them for it. But when I actually asked them about it, they came out to me and explained it. They were so brave, I was honestly thinking of crying because no one had ever told me that they were a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Some of my friends then started coming out as well and I just felt so proud. I fully support them no matter what and I'll love them forever.

There will be people who will judge you, but there will also be people who support you and stand with you. There will be times when it gets hard, but there will also be times when you feel strong and happy. Just know that when you come out, you aren't coming out as someone new, you're coming out as yourself, your TRUE self. So if you are a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I urge you to come out. Show the world who you are because you are perfect in every way. You are so so loved and you are YOU. That's what matters the most. Don't think about what others might think of you, just be yourself. You don't have to wait another year to come out. You can do it now, next week, next month, whenever you'd like. But when you're ready, do it.

If you aren't a part of the LGBTQ+ community, please support anyone who might come out to you. You have no idea how scary it might be but when they do come out, they need your support. Talk to them if you don't understand it because they will explain it to you. It's not a disease, it's not temporary. It's called happiness. No matter what sexuality you identify as, you are perfect.

Show your true colors and don't be afraid.
